TITANIC 3D

With the release of The Titanic in 3D it got me thinking about how successful the original movie was and why. It also made me question why it was chosen to be redone in 3D and if it would have anywhere near the effects as the original did. The 1997 film was full of unforgettable scenes that will forever be remembered. It amazes me how succsseful a movie about pain and loss and sufffering can be in todays world.

Leonardo DeCaprio who first started as a kid onthe hit television series Growing Pains has been acting in movies and on TV ever since. The award winning actor has starred in over 20 movies and has had roles in multiple tv shows throughout his career. His most recent work is a role in Quentin Tarantinos 2012 movie "Django Unchained".

Kate Winslet also got her start at a young age by starring in a cereal commercial at age 11. Since then she has also become an award winning actress by starring in independent films such as
Hideous Kinky (1998) and Holy Smoke. She is currently enjoying raising her children and continueing to speak and be a fashion icon.

Leonardo DeCaprio and Kate Winslet star as two made up characters created to portray a romance between a high class young woman, Kate, and a low class criminal who gambled his way onto the R.M.S. Titanic bound for America. When the boat unexpectantly hits a large iceberg the movie follows the crew and passengers struggles to survive.

I think a large reason why this movie was so incredibly successful was because it didn't have an individual target audience. The story line appealed to everyone from a young teenager to the elderly. The dramatic way they portray the sinking of the ship combined with the love story of Jack and Kate make it so memorable and emotional to so many. Also the fact that it was based on a real tragedy made it very real and gave every person that watched it a personal connection with the characters in some way.

Rememberring back to when I watched it for the firt time I remember being so moved, and in unbelief at how good of a movie it turned out to be. I didn't realize that it was such a lengthy movie until I decided to watch it again. The second time I noticed alot of things that would nowadays be considered cheap editing or even corny. This shows how much technology has changed the way we look at things in the last 15 years.

Even though it has been 15 years since the making of this movie it is still the highest selling box office ever and will continue to forever be a movie that is not only talked about but remembered forever.
